Industry Leaders Offer Real-Life Experiences at Gerber Technology’s Annual Ideation Software Conference

Ideation, Gerber Technology's 13th annual software users conference, kicks off today at the iconic Fontainebleau Miami Beach hotel. Over 200 fashion leaders, Gerber software users and industry decision makers are participating in more than 40 hands-on demonstrations, case studies and ask-the-experts panels during the two-day event.

IT representatives from Christopher & Banks Corp., a U.S. retailer of women's clothing, will discuss how their organization was able to complete the discovery phase, implement, train employees and suppliers and go live with Gerber's YuniquePLM? product lifecycle management software in approximately four months. Christopher & Banks operates approximately 750 stores in 45 states under two brands, Christopher & Banks and CJ Banks, and targets women ages 45-55. In addition, a $4 billion American casual wear brand will offer insight into their organization's conversion from Gerber's webPDM? product data management system to the YuniquePLM system.

As an added highlight, attendees will hear directly from an executive of a major European fashion brand women's jackets detailing how his organization is using digital technologies, including social media, to revolutionize its business from the runway to the web.

The conference opens with a keynote presentation by Peter Skarzynski, a leading practitioner on business innovation and author of Innovation to the Core: A Blueprint for Transforming the Way Your Company Innovates, who will discuss how organizations can build and sustain innovation to enable growth.

The setting also offers the first glimpse into the latest release of Gerber's AccuMark? pattern design, grading and marker making system. Version 8.5 offers a fresh, new interface and simplifies many day-to-day tasks including inputting customer orders and planning markers. It also offers improved integration with Gerber's YuniquePLM? product lifecycle management software.

With version 8.5's enhancements to marker making functionality, users can now configure their work area using customized hot keys, color palettes and tool bars. And, because the system now supports fabric backgrounds, users can import fabric prints at actual scale, define repeats and use this information to match pattern pieces visually. The system also enables users to enter fabric weight to calculate material costs more accurately.

Bill Brewster, president of Gerber's Software Solutions business, said, "Fashion companies of all sizes are constantly searching for ways to use technology to get products to market faster, at less cost and with higher quality. The input attendees provide directly affects the future of our software products. This is a great forum for industry leaders to hear and share best practices and generate ideas to make their employees more productive and their businesses more profitable."

Sponsors of the event include Adobe Systems Incorporated, Pantone LLC, FlexBricks, Singletree Technologies, Geometric Ltd., The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and Miami International University of Art & Design.
